Thrift stores have been a great place to find new interesting glasses. I saw this gargantuan oddity and immediately thought of a UFO. Thus, it provided inspiration for the 51. The green Cocaleros felt like the appropriate base to match the theme.
THIS IS FOR 2 PEOPLE, OR IF YOU'RE VERY THIRSTY
For the drink:
-3 oz Cocaleros (Substitute: Crème de Menthe)
-1 1/2 oz triple sec (Cointreau)
-1 1/2 vanilla vodka (Absolut Vanilia)
-1 oz simple syrup
-1 1/2 fresh lemon juice
-1 tsp fresh chopped ginger
-2 egg whites
Garnish:
Lemon peel
Glassware:
Gargantuan coupe
Place your glass in the freezer. Add the Cocaleros and fresh ginger to a cocktail shaker. Muddle the ginger for about 10 seconds. Combine the remaining drink ingredients and shake without ice for 1 minute. Add ice and shake for 20 seconds. Strain through a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer into your glass and allow it to settle for at least a minute.
