"Christmas in Tacuba" is next in the advent calendar. This variation of a classic daiquiri substitutes a Modelo Especial reduction for the simple syrup. Modelo was originally brewed in Tacuba, Mexico. Thus, the name of this cocktail.
For the drink:
-2 oz white rum (Captain Morgan's)
-3/4 oz fresh lime juice
-3/4 oz Model Especial reduction*
Garnish:
Lime peel
Glassware:
Coupe (or wine glass if at your in-laws and don't have the option)
Combine all the cocktail ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake for ten seconds. Pour through a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer into your glass. Garnish.
*Combine 1/2 cup of Modelo Especial and 1/4 cup of sugar in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium for 15 minutes. Reserve in the fridge.
