For Day Two of the cocktail advent calendar, I created "Florida Flurries." This creamy cocktail that features a burst of citrus made me think of snow in a lemon and orange orchard. The significant work needed to shake the heavy cream is worth it as the silky soft layer on top contrasts nicely with the flavors below.
For the drink:
-1 1/2 oz dark rum (Myers)
-1/2 elderflower liqueur (St. Germain)
-1 oz fresh lemon juice
-3/4 oz spiced simple syrup
-1/8 teaspoon orange blossom water
-1 oz heavy cream
Put your fizz glass in the freezer. Combine all the drink ingredients in the cocktail shaker, but make sure to add the heavy cream last. Shake vigorously without ice for 1 minute. Add ice until the shaker is about three-quarters full and shake for 20 more seconds. Pour the cocktail through a Hawthrone and fine mesh strainer into the chilled glass. Let the drink settle for a minute or two.
