For Day Twenty-Three of the cocktail advent calendar, I created "Holiday Happy Hour." There are no holiday parties this year, but this sweet and sour and spicy beverage warms up the taste buds as a good first drink of the night. I'm interested to experiment with the basic template using different fruits, rums, and sour beers going forward.
For the drink:
-12 oz sour beer (Wild Little Thing)
-2 oz dark rum (Myers's Dark Rum)
-3 to 4 drops hot sauce (Lousiana: The Perfect Hot Sauce)
Tulip Beer Glass
In bowl, gently muddle the strawberries and blackberries in the rum and allow to sit for 5-10 minutes. Pour the rum through a fine mesh strainer, to catch the pieces of strawberry and blackberry, into your beer glass. Add the 3-4 drops of hot sauce, or more if you desire. Pour in the beer, give a few gentle stirs, and garnish.
