For Day Six of the cocktail advent calendar, I created "The Sugar Plum Fairy." When I was a kid, every year my mom took me to see The Nutcracker during the holiday season. I had to create a drink based on the play and I settled on the Sugar Plum Fairy. My step-mom gave me some vintage slivovitz, plum brandy from the former Yugoslavia, several months ago so this became the basis of the cocktail.

For the drink:
-1 3/4 oz Navip Slivovitz (If you can't find plum brandy experiment with some other unaged brandies)
-1 oz fresh lemon juice
-1/2 oz black raspberry Chambord
-1/3 oz spiced simple syrup
-1/8 teaspoon orange blossom water
-2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
Garnish:
1/8 teaspoon absinthe (Wigle Whiskey: Absent Minded)
Lemon peel
Glassware:
Coupe
Place your coupe in the freezer. Combine all of the drink ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Add ice until it's three-quarters full and shake 5-10 seconds until chilled. Pour the absinthe into the glass and rotate to coat all of the sides. Pour out any remaining absinthe that pools at the bottom. Pour the drink into the glass through a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer. Garnish.
