In the "Indonesian Inlet," I wanted to feature star fruit (carambola). These unique fruit may originate from Indonesia. The peanut butter, common in Indonesian food, contributed to the odd, but refreshing flavor. This blended cocktail is funky and divided Sarah and I, with her disliking it, while I loved it. Be warned!
SERVES 2-4 PEOPLE
For the drink:
-2 oz Batavia arrack (Van Oosten)
-7 oz Coconut milk
-1 oz frozen limeade
-1 Banana
-1/3 Star fruit
-3/4 tsp Cinnamon
-1/2 tsp Turmeric
-1/4 tsp Coriander
-2 tbsp Peanut butter
-4 oz Ice
Garnish:
Star fruit
Tiki umbrella
Glassware:
Coupe
Cut the end off the star fruit and the skin along the ridges. Add all the ingredients to a blender. Blend until it reaches the desired consistency. Garnish.
