Week Three of the Great British Bake Off featured milk bread for the showstopper challenge. To turn this into a drink, I made a milk-washed cocktail. This is a Mexican style milk bread featuring ancho chile liqueur, allspice dram, and some homemade mole bitters. Milk-washing the finished cocktail clarified the drink and allowed me to match the challenge theme.

For the drink:
-2 oz bourbon (Woodford Reserve Straight Bourbon)
-1/2 oz ancho chile liqueur (Ancho Reyes)
-1/4 oz allspice dram (St. Elisabeth)
-3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
-1/4 oz simple syrup
-2 dashes mole bitters
-1 1/4 oz milk
Garnish:
Lemon peel
Add the drink ingredients except the milk to a cocktail shaker. Shake for 10 seconds without ice. Add the milk to a glass and pour the cocktail over it. The drink will begin to curdle immediately. Place a coffee filter in a funnel over a mixing glass. Pour the cocktail milk mixture into the filter. It will slowly drip through, producing a clarified cocktail. Either reserve in the refrigerator for later serving chilled or stir over ice in the mixing glass and drink immediately. Garnish.
