The Cherry Blossom

It's DC cherry blossom season. After visiting the Tidal Basin and seeing the trees at peak bloom, I came up with this drink. I further built on the DC connection by using the cherry based aperitivo Cerasum from Don Ciccio & Figli as the base. I got this clipping as a garnish from a tree in my neighborhood.

For the drink:

-2 oz Cerasum

-1/2 oz dark rum (George Bowman)

-3/4 oz fresh lemon

-3/4 honey simple syrup

-1 bar spoon orange blossom water


Garnish:

Cherry blossom clipping


Glassware:

Nick and Nora


Combine all the drink ingredients in a cocktail shaker and add ice. Shake for 10 seconds and pour through a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer. Garnish.
